Youth Making History:
A Summer Arts Experience
at The Ferrette House
Become an Artist. Become a Historian. Keep the Story Alive.
June 23 – 26, 2026
9:30am – 12:30pm daily
What stories live in your family?
Youth Making History is a four-day summer arts experience where young people become artists, historians, and keepers of memory. Through drawing, collage, photography, storytelling, and nature-based exploration, participants will create original artworks inspired by family stories, treasured objects, community histories, and personal experiences.
Together, we'll explore how art can preserve memories, honor those who came before us, and help us imagine the future.
No previous art experience is required.
What Makes This Program Different?
Many young people learn history from textbooks. In Youth Making History, we begin with the stories closest to home.
Participants are invited to explore family memories, community histories, treasured objects, and personal experiences as valuable sources of knowledge. Through artmaking, they will discover that their stories matter and that they have the power to preserve them.
This program is rooted in Ferrette House's belief that creativity, memory, and belonging are essential parts of building a more connected future.
Community Exhibition & Brunch
Family members, friends, and community supporters are invited to celebrate the work created during the program.
Participants will share original artworks and stories developed throughout the week in a welcoming exhibition hosted by Ferrette House.
